I know I am late posting these but I thought better late than never. I started the day as we all should with a hearty breakfast cooked on my cast iron skillet and Weber Griddle pan. I got the griddle pan for Christmas and really enjoy the thing.

for my northern friends the white stuff is cheesy grits.

Next I started my fire and used Peach and hickory. This was actually my first time with both and I loved them.

I rubbed two 6 lb boneless butts with Mccormicks grill mates and Mustard and put them on around 11. These were to be eaten the next day.

At one it was time to put on the evenings dinner which was two whole chickens. I rubbed them lightly with the same stuff. They were to be pulled for sandwiches.

I pulled the chicken around 4:30 and let rest before pulling for sandwiches. Sorry no plated pics because things got hectic with my sons birthday and people around.

Yes one of the chickens was being bashful and that is an Alabama Spatula in the background(Roll Tide).

The butts were taking their time and were not ready until 10:30 pm. This made for an 11.5 hour cook which seemed longer than usual. Here is how they looked after resting

Both the chicken and the butt were very tasty. THe chicken also made amazing chicken salad. Sorry for no plated or pulled pics of the butt. It was late when I pulled the butt and I had to get up early for church. I did get to use my new claws from Charcoal companion. I picked them up at our local Bass Pro but you can get them from Amazon and they work great. The butt pulled in a matter of minutes.

You made breakfast just the way I like it....on the grill!!!
Everything looks great!! thanks for sharing.

That's a whole lotta cookin', Curt! I, too, would be so tired that it would take a week or two to get the pics up :) And I haven't heard about any time limit.

I love doing breakfast on the grill. It keeps the bacon smell out of the house and tastes great. I found a lodge cast iron biscuit tray that I am hoping to get for Father's Day. I also enjoy the cheese grits. Mike you should make some one day. We're you stationed in the south?

Not really, I did my Marine Corps schooling in Aberdeen Maryland and had them there, do you have a recipe?

We just buy the Quaker bag grits and add a couple of handfuls of the shredded Mexican blend cheese from Costco with some butter and pepper. This is for 8 servings. Grits don't have much flavor so you have to add all you can.
