What are your settings on the SSii? Specifically 't', outL & outH. Were you running the SSii on auto or manual?
I have an SSii running my ProSmoker 100 great, but need to adjust settings to have the Stoker/SSii combination work without big temp swings.
 
I cook mine at 220° - I just crank it to 250° to finish them off depending on time
