There may be places with better barbecue in the area, but the legendary nature of Arthur Bryant's BBQ makes it a required stop on your Kansas City barbecue crawl. The brick pit, the way they tend the meat, and the way they put together each order at the counter is a sight to see. Not a big fan of the sauce, it's known for being kind of gritty, but it's part of what makes Arthur Bryant's what it is. All the usual suspects are on the menu, and the portion size of the sandwiches is humongous, to say the least. And the fries are pretty darned good, too. They used to be cooked in lard...I hope they still are. :)

Here's a little video that give you a sense of just how big the food is: http://www.arthurbryantsbbq.com/our_restaurants/sandwich352.mpg

Chris

I lived in KC for 6 years. Arthur Bryant's was always the place I'd take family and friends when they came in to town. It's still a must do stop any time I'm back that way.
