How do I upload pics? Are there instructions anywhere?

Does anyone have instructions on how to upload pics? I have several on my computer of a great cook I did recently.

    Thanks,

    G

    Hi Gil,

You don't upload photos to this forum. You need to host them on Photobucket or a similar service, then link them into your posts.

How to embed a photo into your post

    Thanks for asking,
    Chris

Will the pics show in the post, or just the links?

You can do it either way.

If you paste the photo URL into your post, it's just a link. If you click the Insert Image icon and enter the URL, the photo is shown inline as part of your post.

There is a limit of 10 images per post.

    Have fun,
    Chris

I just tried inserting this image from this link, using the "insert image" icon: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gilmata...in/photostream

It didn't work. Is this board compatible with Flickr?

    You mean like this?

slicing brisket by gilaadm, on Flickr

Click "Share" above your Flickr photo. Click "Grab the HTML/BBCode". Click the BBCode radio button. Copy the code and then paste it directly into your post here on the forum.

Flickr is kind enough to insert all the necessary code so you don't have to use the Insert Image icon I mentioned before.

    Regards,
    Chris

Why can't pics be uploaded directly to this site rather than all the gyrations of uploading to another site then linking to this site?

I have turned off photo uploads because I don't want to pay for the disc space to store the photos and the download bandwidth for people to view them. When you post them on Photobucket, they are paying for the storage and bandwidth, not me.

    Regards,
    Chris
