picnic question

I have never done one..I always to butts, and was at my commisary today, and picnics are .84 cents a lb. It sure seems like a lot of bone.
Can someone compare/contrast against a boston butt..
1) amount of meat from say 7or lbs of each cut
2) taste difference.

To me the picnic has more texture and seems to be drier. A different flavor too. I am talking small differences but different none the less. I like them for a change of pace every now and then.
