If you're still doing this ID service, I have 2 serial numbers I like more info on.

serial #?ER 304187
serial #: PL7 11094

Welcome David,

Joe hasn't posted since July (shortly before I joined the forum). Hope he returns some day.

PL7 11094
Sorry... My bad... Tiz the season, I'll be on here more till fall.

Our SN look up is down for a few more days but the PL7 11094 I can do off the top of my head.

That's a 1993 Spirit 700 LP with a POL gas hose. It's the grill we designed the Gen Sil B off of. I couldn't run that SN on the look up because it's considered a numarical SN vs a coded letter SN like the ER number.

Off the top of my head, the waranty is expired as it only had a 10yr on castings, 3yr on cooking grates, flav bars, and the ignitor, 5yrs on everything else. No way to find out the date of manufacture but given the number, it was made early in the year (before march or so)

Most of the common replacement parts are interchangable with a pre 2004 Gen Silver B... Ya know... Cooking grates, flav bars, bottom tray, lid, cook box, black button ignitor, warming racks are all the same for SP700 and pre 04 sil b's.

I will run the report in a few days on the ER grill.

You kids have fun!

Joe,
If your up for checking this one out, I would be interested in finding out about this grill I grabbed off of CraigsList.

S/N DU0438224

Thanks

It has the SS grates so I guess the folks I bought it from upgraded those. The flavorizer bars were kind of beat so I upgraded those to SS. With you insight can you tell me if the parts are available to add the right side shelf, you know the flip-up one?

Aint hapinin. It could be done by replacing the right side trim peice and the fold down table.

Right Trim $14.73
Right table with bracket $44.10
S/H $7.00

Trouble is, Weber doesn't sell these parts unless you have the Serial Number stating you have a Gen Gold C. Why? Realy it's because they say things like "buy... not build" "liability" (or however it's spelled) and such. True to some extent, but we have had alot of people try to put an IR burner in there charm blow and stuff.

Sorry.

Thanks for the great info though!

your "L3" comes up as a Genesis 2 LP with a POL hose and regulator, MFG between 1985-1987. This is a rock solid grill, that many people loved because its one of the few you could add a side burner to. Replacement parts are widely available as are the add on's. Most of the parts are interchangable with any of the Genesis 1-5500. Warranty is pretty well gone but these grills tend to last forever!

Good buy!

Thanks so much for the quick reply Joe. I know off hand that I need to replace the burners. The middle one is rusted through.

I had a Genesis 2000 of the same vintage. It went 12 years and I thought of rebuilding it, but instead replaced it. I live within 30 miles of the beach and that may be why I got significant corrosion on the cart. When doing a take apart cleaning, I then found a couple of holes in the firebox. My guess is meat juice and other juices collected there and eventually corroded through ?

Hope the grill works out well for you.

Paul

Hi -- If you are still doing this, I'd love it if you could run this grill. I found two numbers:

EI 162945 (under control panel)
and
EI 248439 (inside cabinet door)

Thanks!

I was starting to wonder there for a second. I didn't use the cart S/N because the warranty was for 5 years on all the frame parts. Good grill though!

Thanks Joe. This is good info to have. I just inherited this mega grill, but now I need to decide what to do with it:

Do I convert to Propane (around $150 Joe?)?

Do I go through the bother and expense of running NG to the deck (way out there because this grill is SO big)

or do I just put in on Craigslist and use the "earnings" toward something a little more compact and with the side burner I really need (a Weber of course).
[/list]

Our deck is small and I already an old Kamado up there (in reality it's not that small of deck, it's just that I don't get much more space ;-)

Any guesses on what a grill like this would sell for? It's in pretty darn nice condition cosmetically. You can't go wrong with the big black Weber hood and a all that stainless. The burners look good (a couple of the crossover tubes look iffy), the steel rod grates are amazing, and I just got it a new set of ss flavor bas. Other than that, the igniters look bad but still spark and there's a little rust on the frame where the doors latch. Everything else is clean and shiny.

It hadn't been fired up in a while and I can't test the burners w/o natural gas (and it's a little unwieldy to be dragging around to friends' houses!).

Anybody have any guesstimates or opinions on what to do w/it (besides driving it over to your house)!

Cheers,

Tim in Seattle

I can't tell you what to do with it, but it will cost about $285.00 to swich it over to LP. I don't have a direct gas line to my patio but I did just run a water line to the patio and it only cost me about $20.00 to do that, but I only had to run pipe about 6ft.

A couple years ago, I tried to buy a summit 450 LP from a lady who had it given to her, she just bought a Gen Gold C so I figured she would sell it in a heartbeat. She would not take the $500.00 I offered her. I had just serviced that Summit 450 so I know it was well worth the $500.00 and then some. If your 650 is in good working order and does not need a great deal of replacement parts, I would expect it to sell for around $700.00 or so.

Good luck to ya!
