i got a redhead 1000 at a garage sale for a whole $10 including the cover, needs no work to use but would like to make it look new again, when painting the frame should i use high temp or standard gloss and is there any thing i can do to buff out the red (and the green on my other weber genesis) to make them bright and shiny
again

A little degreaser on the red, wipe off the heavy stuff, and then buff with 0000 grit steel wool. Looks like brand new.

I don't think it matters which paint you use for the frame-it shouldn't get hot enough to matter for the frame. Clearly, for the firebox and sides of the hood you should use high heat.

Also, the rustoleum ultra has a satin finish. Regular rustoleum high heat is a flat finish, which isn't what the grill had originally but the paint is a bit cheaper.

Great score! Red ones cook the best!
