I'm using the apple brine recipe for the bird this year. It calls for 2 quarts of apple juice and 3 quarts of water. Can I sustitute apple cider for the juice? And could I use all cider or juice instead of water. Thanks!

Howdy...

Not dure about the cider, but imho apple juice only would be fine.

Just keep in mind that there?s already a lot of sugar in the apple juice.

Bruce, cider works fine in my opinion. I've used the cloudy true cider as well as plain apple juice, and all went well with both. I used all apple juice on my bird that I posted the other day here and it was great.

Just about ready to put the ol' bird into the apple brine. It weighs 16.12lbs. It took two full gallons of apple cider to cover the bird in the 5-gallon bucket. Smells great!
