can spritz cookies be done without press

i wouild need to know if spritz cookies can be cut with a cookie cutter instead of using a cookie press which we dont have but we have a lot of cutters we also need other recipes that we can use these cutters something other then sugar cookies
 
Never tried it, but if you look you can find a good Mirro cookie press at yard sales. We bought one with 16 pattern inserts for 50 cents....
 
My Mom who was born and raised in Germany makes these, I think. She uses her meat grinder that has a special end on it and she slides in the pattern she wants. They look like a feeler gauge like you would use for gapping spark plugs, and they have different designs for the cookie. Same thing, or am I way off base here? Anyway, it's a really cool set up Mom has when she makes her German Christmas cookies. Hazlenut and Orange are the two she makes these days. I love em both, but the Orange are my slight favorite.
