We're gonna need a bigger grill

In Michigan where we have a cabin they have signs up in the places you buy your hunting licenses telling people that you can shoot a feral hog with any kind of license and there is no season. I haven't even heard of any in Michigan but the DNR isn't taking any chances on them. I'd shoot one in a...

One Year Non-Smoker - Tobacco That Is

That's great news, Lew. You're an inspiration to all of us that we can make changes when we really want to. Keep on smoking that meat and loving that family!!

    Changon BBQ Grillacue

I would think this would give you pretty much the same general results as the SnS. You have a few important aspects that you don't get with the Grillacue that you do get from the SnS. The SnS contains your coals so they are not directly touching the side of your kettle. If you have an old cooker...

Cooking potatoes Directly on the Coal

I LOVE doing sweet potatoes directly on the coals like this. You just turn them every so often. I like to use especially big ones and then cut them in half for serving. You just eat the insides, and man do they taste good! They make a bit of a mess on your plate so it's not a thanksgiving dinner...

We're gonna need a bigger grill

If he was smart he shot it standing in the doorway or out a window for a quick escape if the boar had turned on him. I'm not sure I'd have even attempted that shot with a .38 unless it was truly an emergency.

    Weber is best briquette

I agree, it seems to burn much longer than kbb. I guess, I'm mostly saying that in comparison to the price. I was also hoping that it would smell better too. It doesn't smell bad, at least no worse than kbb, I was just hoping for that premium price that it would smell smokier. That being said...

    Weber is best briquette

I'm in north central Indiana and I'm seeing several stores listed on the brickseek page that are selling it at $5.98 for the twenty pound bag. That's pretty close to the per pound price we see on KBB when it goes on sale. I bought a bag and I wasn't that impressed with it, not even when I paid...

    Kettle Pizza on Performer Question

Mine dripped right off when I used the KP.

Okay I'm sold! Going to make a 26" Performer

Cliff, I just came across this thread and absolutely love what you've done with this design. I think using the handrails was brilliant, not only because you got a good price on them at the ReStore, but it makes the cart look so sharp. I was wondering if you ever got the bottom shelf on or had a...

    Newbie needing some grilling guidence!

Gillian, you have a lot of great tips here. Something else that comes to mind is the hardness of the burgers. You said they came directly from your fridge to the grill. Did you make them into patties yourself, or did you buy them pre-pattied? If you pattied them yourself it is possible to pack...

Does anyone here NOT use a charcoal smoker??

I have an electric Masterbuilt smoker. I only use it when I'm making summer sausage because it's got the racks so I can get a good amount in there and keep the temp steady with the electronic controls. But that's the ONLY thing I use it for. It's the WSM all the way for everything else.

    My 26" Performer

Man, that things is beautiful. I wouldn't even bother with the gas assist. You've got that killer side burner. Just put a chimney full of charcoal on that bad boy and your coals will be ready in no time.

Cajun Bandit Steel Door for WSM 18.5 -- Not Good

How old is your WSM? Cajun Bandit has two doors available for the 18.5 according to the year of manufacture. I bought one for my 18.5 and it seems to fit well but my old latch, and I have the old style round handle, doesn't pull the door up real tight. I'm going to get a compression latch for it.

Rotisserie turkey or don't sweat the technique

I wonder if the turkey turned out so well because you had it trussed up so tightly. The skin wasn't able to pull back so it likely protected the turkey from drying out. Nicely done!

Want to build a Cart for my WSM or Kettle or BOTH...

Here's the plans for the cart that someone built in your initial post. The link to the plans I uploaded is in post number 14. http://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?51282-We-ve-got-WOOD-to-look-forward-to&p=564068#post564068

    Made a mistake

000 Steel wool and Dawn dish soap. The steel wool won't scratch the porcelain. I'll be it'll come out with that.

We've got WOOD to look forward to....

I downloaded the plans from the other woodworking magazine and put them on my dropbox account. You can click on the links and download the plans if you want. I broke them into three parts since the file was so large. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ri5o5w7kle9w0ec/Kettle%20Grill%20Center%201.pdf...

We've got WOOD to look forward to....

Yeah, my thinking exactly. Just what a I want, a burn on my arm from reaching down to get my lid and all my hair burned off while I'm trying to reach that lid to put out a flare up. I'm looking forward to seeing this just to get some building ideas, there are some good things here, especially...

We've got WOOD to look forward to....

They designed it with a honduran mahogany top. They must have put a spar varnish on it so it looks shiny. I think a copper top, or even a marble or some kind of stone would be great, maybe even a polished concrete top. The polished concrete would be the cheapest version for a DIYer I suppose...
