You should consider working with Bryan and having the kids design in improvements that are on his Parking Lot List.

It would be easy enough to chop a USB cable down in size, to utilize the same parts. And you could solder in a header as needed! I'm seeing this as an easy upgrade with minimal conflict... but I'm sure I am missing something.

I'm trading my savings for a Motorcycle into a new WSM. I've found that nothing good comes easy in life. I understand the 'envy' comment, and that's what helped push my decision. It'll go perfect with my Performer I have at Kamp (and the Weber Corn and Tater Ring will be there now too)!!!

I've been wanting to upgrade since they came out. Of course, I bought my WSM and they came out upgraded for the new year... I just pulled the trigger on a 22" WSM! :wsm22: Plus an 18" Charcoal for the bottom, and a new Chimney to go with it. (And a Goourmet Grate for my X-mas Performer...!!!)...

I believe that the grommet is a newer addition; 2012/2013 generation. Nice unit though!

Every Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day, the 3 same majors put the K-briqs on sale. Wal-crud, Home Depot & Lowe's They end up anywhere between $.20-$.25 per pound You're at $.27/lb. I'd hold off on stocking up further..... but that's just me...

But are you considering possibly using the Display port and a small-screen LCD-panel instead of the hard connected LCD? I would think that it might take a bit, but you could end up with more capabilities...? Or maybe the 16x2 onto a Ribbon cable, to the display port?

+1! I bought everything during the fall last year, and was unable to assemble it during the cold season (don't ask...). I recognize that I would have to get a new PCB, but... Anybody do a side-by-side yet?

I've got the 18.5 WSM, and just hit the local Hardware store for a charcoal grate for a Smokey Joe.
