    Alternative to Mav.........

Mine quit working on the food side, well, just won't stay on, as it will quit recording, start it back up, lasts 3 seconds to an hour, then quits again. Not the probe as I can switch to the other side and it works fine, which leaves me without a grill monitor............so, what's best...

My worst burger post yet......not even a grill pic....

Well, I completely forgot to take a grill pic, actually was not even going to post, but decided, what the heck.....My actual purpose of this cook was to try another homemade bun cook with different size buns and do a few slider buns. So here's a pic of the sourdough buns in three different sizes...

No picture aged steak post......just for info.

I had taken pictures of this process, however, when uploading some pictures on my card, I clicked the box to erase all pictures one uploaded, obviously deleting picture that i did not want deleted........my bad. As reported here by others, and "seen" on TV by none other than cooking guru Alton...

Burger Quest #2: Michael, IronChef, Symon.....Fat Doug Burger & fresh baked buns

Burger Quest #2: Michael "IronChef" Symon.....Fat Doug Burger & fresh baked buns In my continuing quest for the best burger recipes, this week I cooked Michael Symon's burger dubbed the "Fat Doug Burger", what the name means is a mystery. I have seen numerous claims of it being a great burger...

Burger Quest: Gordon Ramsey's Ultimate Burger

I, as many or most of you, enjoy a good burger. I especially like them on Sat. or Sundays, when my day is often "wasted" watching college or pro football. I usually tape the pro games and then watch them 20-30 minutes later, fast forwarding through the commercials and half time. That way I...

Not a grill in sight for this "cook".

Ok, didn't do a thing on the grill, but thought some of you cooks out that enjoy how my Friday afternoon was spent. Making pasta with my homemade drying rack.....really professional, two boxes or should I say four, three stacked, and a wooden dowel. One of these days, I'll spend a few...

In case of interest the "brown" thermopens are on sale, while supplies last, for just 85 bucks.......as for me, don't really care what frigging color they are, so I ordered one for the kitchen, as the other one stays outside all of the time..........................d

Easy chicken cook while watching NFL games....

Easy chicken cook, shooting pool while watching NFL games.... Just hanging out today watching some football and decided to throw on a few skinless chicken breasts on the fire along with some french bread. Also made some potato salad, and field peas, still cleaning out freezer, for a good ole...

Grilled chicken Fettuccine Alfredo on the grill, what was I thinking?

Yesterday, I got in the mood to make fresh pasta, after giving away my pasta machine earlier in the year, so I had to make it by hand all the way. Wanted to make a alfredo dish and then decided to do it all on the grill......maybe not such a great idea without enough tabletops to hold...

Bacon ground burgers and fried potato straws.

Grinded burger meat with added bacon and fried potato straws. Decided to grind some burger meat a few days ago using chuck steaks and adding bacon for extra fat and flavor. Made a bit of mess grinding the bacon as I forgot to chop it up before grinding....the fat in it just doesn't pass...

Comfort food to easy to even post......

In rearranging some stuff in the freezer today, I saw a few things that were perhaps overstaying their useful welcome, so decided the butterbeans and frozen chicken breasts needed to be cooked. Also found a few potato's in the pantry that were only a few days from sprouting, so did what any...

Strange results in monitoring meat temperture.

Since we have no general discussion area, so posting here, since it is BBQ, though it could just as well be grilling, or smoking. Last week I did a flat brisket with the goal of hitting the 195-200 internal range on the thickest part of the flat. I put in my Mav. and slowly watched it climb as...

Hmmm, Rare brisket, but more common deserts........

Haven't posted as much the last month or so, being gone for a trip, catching up on chore's etc, but had family over for dinner and smoked a brisket, which I don't do very often, but with a small crowd, figured it was worthwhile. So I put on a 7.5 pound flat down for a low and slow for about 6...

    No pic's, just a comment......

Grilled burgers today, topped with cheese, big sesame seed bun, topped with pickles, onions, mayo and mustard. Really, is there anything so simple, so quick, and yet so good? I may never have another burger in a restaurant ever again......they just don't compare to grilled at...

    Temperature guages

Kevin, What type of temp gauges do you use on your grills, favoring one type over the other? And if cooking several pieces of meat, steaks for instance, do you check all of them or just one or two, knowing the grill cooks differently in spots?......................David

    WSM mods

Kevin, I realize that you are the cook and not the engineer, but........If one views the mod section on this site, and the number of pic's that people post of their mods, I am curious why Weber does not make many of these mods standard on their grills? For instance, I own the 22 WSM and must...

Kinds of grills that you have?

Since we do not have a general subject posting area, and this is not a thread about "show us your Weber's or other grills", and there is no way to post a poll, thought I would just ask the question. What type of grill do you own and appox. use of each as a percentage. For instance, if you use...

Boneless chicken breast.....might be my favorite cook.

Last week member David Fry asked what most of us cooked the most often.....I answered chicken, just as he had shown in his thread. So, today I decided to hit the grill with them tonight. I simply thawed out a few frozen chicken breasts out of a bag from Wal-Mart. i thawed them in cold water...
