Tailgating at home today.....butt on the grill......butt in my recliner.

Got a small butt on the 22" kettle. Also doing a huge batch of pinto beans. It's been a really easy cook so far. That's good as I've got my knee iced down and trying to get this swelling down. It's got me sidelined from much else, I'm afraid. Any excuse to fire up the chimney is...

Another run of spares on the WSM

Was coming home from the grocery store today and saw this.......caught my attention right away as I'd just seen Stephen King's "IT" yesterday with my son. Looking into the neighborhood as I passed by I could see more red balloons guiding you along..... I texted my boy and said, "No way...

    "Underpowered" wing cook........

Used the small Vortex with a couple handfuls of KBB along with my Weber rack that the dogs went on. Funny thing is that I used it in a 24" kamado. Everyone said I'd be underpowered. The inferno center makes for a great spot to roll stuff around and crisp it up.....

    Small grilling and big chilling......

This little Weber SmokeyJoe :smokeyjoe: is proving to be a handy little grill. It may make for a great addition for folks tailgating. It was right on time yesterday for me to end off a tough work week. Heap of potential for different styles of cooking. I'e done burgers, dogs, steaks...

    Smoking in the storm.......

Really fortunate to have some decent weather to smoke in considering Irma is heading into my state now. Smoking with a heavy heart, too, in remembrance of the souls lost on September 11th and those who've given their lives in pursuit of the cowardly scum who perpetrated the attacks on our...

    Family favorite cook here yesterday...

My family really enjoys some basic stuff for dinner sometimes. I'm glad, because it's fun to make and the flavor is there thanks to a proper hot dog chili and homemade slaw. Using the small Vortex. Placed a small wax lighter tab on the grate and stacked the charcoal on top. Fired up...

    Flat out tasty !!!!!!!!!!!!

Limping around the grocery store yesterday like I was running on flat tires. Wore out from night shifts and not much sleep throughout the weekend. Couldn't figure out what I was going to cook for our dinner. Hit the meat section first...and schemed it up from there. "Beef....it's what's for...

    Paymaster's Steak Rub

Paymaster's Steak Rub...been doing my steaks his way for the last few years. I let them soak all day, overnight or ten minutes....however much time I have available. Per steak recipe (double as needed): 2 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp soy or teriyaki sauce 2 tsp McCormick's Montreal Steak Seasoning...

Suggestions for grill setup...baby back ribs on a MasterTouch 22.

Good morning all. Was going to cook some baby back ribs and may use my MasterTouch22 for it. Figured I'd run a full side chamber of Kingsford with some wood chunks mixed in there, a pair of slabs off to the other side with top vent positioned over them to get good smoke draw over them...

Had an absolute blast cooking on a 34 year old Weber kettle today....

I'd smoked some ribs and a pork shoulder yesterday and stashed them in the fridge with the plan to reheat them at today's shootout at a buddy's farm. We had a great time.....ran through a heap of ammo and the crowd ate well. Corn was a piece of cake....they loved it. Frozen Green...

    Master-Touch....assembly trouble with ash ring....am I an idiot ?

Have a tough time getting my Master-Touch assembled properly as per the instructions. The ring doesn't secure in any way that I've tried. It doesn't snap into place. I bend the three tabs inward and slide them behind the leg holders and nothing. It just hangs there. Are there supposed to...

    Vortex flappers n' franks

Did some hotdogs and wings here. One of these days I'll go lighter on the rub....yessaday was not that day. Made a batch of hotdog chili. Man Cave Meals version. The stuff is killer on hotdogs, brats and burgers. It's reason alone to make them.

Had a great experience on my first cook on the 22 WSM

Had the day off yesterday with no plans to do much but hang out at the house. Figured I'd get some grub cooked for the workweek. Last week I picked up a Weber Smokey Mountain 22" smoker and did a test run on it to get familiar with it and burn off the stuff inside it. Should give me really...

My first cook using Meathead's newly arrived book.

My new book just arrived today.....very quickly thumbed through it and decided to use his Alabama White Sauce recipe on some chicken. Apologies upfront......I did not use a :blackkettle: or :wsm22: for this cook. I've not assembled the first.....and my warranty replacement parts for...

Small Vortex....how well will it work on a 22" Kettle ????

Does anyone have any experience with this ? I have a small Vortex coming my way with the intentions of using in on an 18" Kettle at my house. Friends and family members have 22" Kettles, however. :blackkettle: When visiting them, would the small Vortex work okay on wing, chicken & other...

What has been your maximum pork butt payload on your WSM's ?

Just added a 22 and was hoping to get 6-8 in there and smoked nicely. Would love to see some of your largest cooks on yours.

Anyone using the aftermarket stacker units to expand capacity ?

I see Cajun Bandit has a stacker unit for the WSM. Would add another grate. Potentially another 2-3 pork shoulder butts to a load of 6+ already stuffed in there on a 22.5 Would you trust the legs to support this much additional weight ? Mega capacity for big feeds is an allure of mine with...

    Hello from Georgia !!!

Howdy folks. I had my last Weber, a kettle, some 20-some years ago during college life and beyond. It was a highly versatile grill that saw me through some fun times. The last several years I've been using kamado grills for cooks for my small family. I've been wanting to expand the smoking...
