    Cannot access HM

I loaded the Raspberry PI OS and it worked just fine! I went back my newer SD card and used SD Formatter. I only did Quick Format before. I did the Overwrite Format and it worked this time. I retried it on my original SD card and that failed. So it looks like it was the original SD card...

    Cannot access HM

I believe I did that correct. I have a Raspberry PI 1 model B. I picked the second option for target board. Raspberry Pi A / B. I think I'm going to try and disconnect the PI from the HM PCB and install some other light weight image to see if that works. If not, I think my PI is dead.

    Cannot access HM

I tried another card. A 4GB card. I used SD Formatter to format the drive. I downloaded the hetermeter image (28,800KB). I used Win32 Disk Imager to write it. Same issue. Green light comes on, goes off, blinks, and nothing else. When I look at Windows on my SD card, it shows that the...

    Cannot access HM

Thanks Brian. No go. I reinstalled the image and put it back in. I noticed that activity light on the PI flashed twice green and stopped. I plugged the HDMI into my TV to see if it showed anything. It is showing a gradient image on the screen. Red in the upper left, yellow in upper right...

    Cannot access HM

Hello, I built a HM about 4 years ago. Haven't been cooking much but am getting back into using it again. I cannot get it to connect to me network. I just reset all the software, plug it hardwired to my router, and it is not getting an IP. The light on my router isn't even lighting up. I...

    Cannot access Heatermeter

Got it. Yes. That seems to have worked. I can access it via the wired connection. I would have never figured that out! Thank you!

    Cannot access Heatermeter

That's the problem. I can't access the HM menu now. When I go to heatermeter.com/devices, I get timeouts. I added a monitor and keyboard to the Pi so I can see what's going on. It does show that my IP is 192.168.200.1 But I can't reach this IP address from other computers on my network nor...

    Cannot access Heatermeter

Hello, So my HM has been working great for over a year when I built it. I bought a new router and the wifi settings changed. So I brought it inside and hardwired it to my network. I was able to access it directly. I did go into the NETWORK settings and I deleted one of the adapters in...

    INTRODUCING: the "Roto Damper"

I finally decided to upgrade my HM and decided to step up to the RD3. I never had a case for my HM either. Here's my original setup. I used cardboard to connect the fan to my big green egg. It's wrapped in bacon duct tape! Starting to fall apart though and I'd always overshoot my target...

Change/Add Port the Heater Meter is listening on....

Just to add here. My ISP also blocks inbound traffic on port 80. However, you do not need to change the port your HM is listening on to get around this. All you need to do is go into your router settings and setup a single port forwarding rule. I have setup a dynamic DNS hostname called...

    Post your live HeaterMeter Cooks

Beer Can Chicken Nothing too fancy, but thought I'd share. Here is my setup: Here's the chicken going in. I will be adding some wings shortly: I have a fan only setup with a BGE. It's cardboard with bacon duck tape! Here's the linky: http://livebbq.duckdns.org:1024 I'm thinking of...

Build complete. need help with a few last items.

Yes. The template was fine. I didn't change a thing. I just made sure to print it to a WxH of 6.35" x 7.392". I then just cut the template out, traced it onto the cardboard and cut that out. I'm not sure why there are 4 small holes on the little flaps, but I didn't cut those. I just stuck...

Build complete. need help with a few last items.

Thanks for the replies. I used Bryan's template and created a cardboard version of it for now. I bought some sheet metal as well to create the final one. Smoked some chicken legs last night too!

Build complete. need help with a few last items.

Hello, I just finished the build of my HM v4.2 w/ TC. Turned it on and success! I can't believe it worked since I had very little soldering experience. It took a bit to figure out my ET-732 probes and how to get them to work. I had them pushed in too far and it was losing their connection...

Is 24 hours the limit for graphing?

 I see your ambient temp was high of 80 and low of 20. Jeez! That's some swing! How'd the brisket turn out? :)

Looking to build HM but have some questions

Awesome! Thank you both for the great information. This is really helpful. I have decided I'm going to go through with the HM build as a result. I'm also going to go with the TC option. I have had probes fail in the past and if I can avoid it by going with the TC option, that makes more...

Looking to build HM but have some questions

Hello, I have a Large BGE and have been looking for an automatic temperature control system for awhile. I have been looking at the DigiQ DX2 but then ran across HM and have been reading the Wiki and these forums for a few weeks! Very impressed that this DIY project exists. Plus I have a rPI...
