After 12 plus years on the local PNWBA (and national) KCBS competition bbq circuits my wife and I are calling it quits for Wine Country "Q".
I learned my chops right here on this forum and just wanted to say thank you to Chris and all you fine folks who helped me out along the way.
I'm looking...
Thought I would share these unique trophies from a recent competition in Langley, BC  They were awarded for the top 3 meats in each category...we took 1st pork, 1st brisket, 3rd chicken, 3rd ribs and grand Champion! :wsm:
And still winning with them too! :wsm: My Grandsons Brenden and Bradley were on hand to share in the moment... Funny story...as they were announcing the RGC my oldest (Brenden) turned to me and said..."there is only one big trophy left Papa John...is that one yours?"...ummm...yep...it was...lol...
Hi folks...we're back from the Jack and thought we'd share a few pics of our experience. We finished 29th overall out of 90 teams...not too shabby for an all-bullet bbq crew of two from Duvall, WA...

Along the same thought is why you choose where to compete. If there are several choices from which to choose on what do you base your decision...
so...how does one mod this for a high heat smoke? The rounded feature at the top of the opening does not allow for turning the door upside down...???

Since purchasing my first WSM in 2007 I have gone on to meet many new freinds and have recently won several BBQ Championships with my partner and fellow TVWBB member "Swamprb" (Brian Moriarty). I just wanted to say "Thank You" to Chris and all TVWBB members for your advice over the past few...
I got tired of my WSM's filling up with water in the off season...so I drilled a 1/4 inch hole in the bottom. Bye bye mold and mildew...
When I fire it up I just plug the hole with a ss bolt. I used a uni-bit for a smooth hole...no chipping...then touched it up with a little high temp...
Here it is folks...my latest mod to alleviate the air flow problems to my Smokey Joe Platinum. All parts were ordered for an 18 1/2 inch Silver One Touch Kettle.
Hi folks...I just finished installing my second Tel-Tru in to my new WSM. I used a #4 uni-bit and drilled a 3/4 hole. I then used a 1/2 inch NPT and ran it down until I got the correct dial orientation...easy peasy. I now have twin WSM's waiting for the summer competitions.
Hi folks,
My Guru eyelets finally arrived...so while I was waiting I fashioned a shelf for the digital thermometer out of a coathanger and an electrical outlet cover (steel). My wife calls it a little "laptop" for my WSM (hence the nickname) LOL! Anyhoo...just thought I'd share a couple of...
Hi folks...my Tel-Tru finally arrived (just in time for a weekend smoke)...so I thougt I'd share my installation with you.
I purchased the coupling and nut at my local Home Depot...they are manufactured by Watts and the part numbers are A-177 (coupling), and A-162 (nut). I modified the...
Hi folks,
After browsing the modification threads for a while I have decided that my WSM needs a set of wheels. I'm thinking of fabricating something out of electrcal conduit or modifying a trash can cart...any and all ideas welcome!
I'm thinking something along the line of Jim Bloomfield's...
I recently purchased a WSM and installed a Char-Broil thermometer (the only one I could find at my local Home Depot at the time) in the lid opposite the vent. I was a little curious as to the accuracy of the thermometer after my first smoke so I immersed it in boiling water to see where it...
