Shrimp and Mash - A Shrimp and Grits Hack

I love Shrimp and Grits. My wife won't eat grits but she loved this dish. I wanted to have something similar that we both will enjoy. The quantities in this recipe will feed two octogenarians for 2 dinners so it's probably enough for 2 with healthier appetites. The original recipe called for...

    Blowout Sale Weber Smokefire Stealth

What Shane said plus the redesigned hopper means the auger tube comes in a little differently. The fire pot is redesigned, seems beefier according to owners, and the glow plug holder is redesigned. They added a heat shield along the front side of the cook chamber and put an insulator on the...

My 3 grown kids are all geeks. It goes with the territory.

Big Change(s) at Weber - From sizzle to fizzle

If you're referring to their disastrous release of the Smokefire I will agree with you. If you're referring to the grill itself I will respectfully disagree. Weber seems to have recovered from the bad publicity of the release and indications are that sales are on the upswing. The Stealth...

    Boneless Pork Shoulder woes

This is how I've always understood it, not how The Spruce Eats words their explanation. The shoulder is the Butt and the Picnic. I much prefer the Butt for pulled Pork and I think it's a more forgiving cook.

Is The Smokefire a Failure or Success and What Proves It?

You can, but I'm thinking about putting it back in just to clear up cabinet space in the garage. After I posted the Gen2 post, I got to thinking about how long it's been since I needed 22 lbs. Sept 2020. It just depends on how you run your grill.

Is The Smokefire a Failure or Success and What Proves It?

John did say he had a Gen1 EX4. I have a Gen1 4 and 6. Like so many things with the Smokefire there’s confusion about what Gen1 means. I think it was November 2020 when the Gen2 was released amid a PR blitz that billed it as a big change. There were only two physical changes. The welded...

Is The Smokefire a Failure or Success and What Proves It?

That's what I had used in my Camp Chef so I used them for the first 6 months in my EX6. I tried the B&B Championship blend, one dollar more for 40 lbs., and I like the flavor a tad more. I was never dissatisfied with the Pit Boss but I wanted to try a blend with Pecan.

Is The Smokefire a Failure or Success and What Proves It?

Well, a tad contentious at one point but I think Darian Hofer and BFletcher did a great job of calming the waters.

Used Ex6 2nd for $350, is it worth all the headaches and trouble?

If it's headaches and trouble then why consider it?

Is The Smokefire a Failure or Success and What Proves It?

Yeah, as I said before the 2022 reviews are much better than the 2020 reviews. I'm hoping that the Smokefire overcomes the miserable start that it had with owners. I'm now reading more comments about the taste of the food and how it's surprisingly good. With all of their software upgrades the...

Is The Smokefire a Failure or Success and What Proves It?

No. All of the internal components of the Gen1/Gen2 EX4 and EX6 are interchangeable except the flavorizer bar brackets and the top cooking grate. It's just that some of these grills seem to have a problem with the larger diameter pellets. I don't know this for a fact but if the auger tube and...

Is The Smokefire a Failure or Success and What Proves It?

Yes. About 2 months after I got my grill, I tried one bag of Weber Grillmaster blend but prefer B&B Championship blend because that is my flavor favorite. Lumber Jack makes their LJ, Weber, and Cabela's pellets in their Wisconsin plant. Those are smaller in diameter than what I use. I tried...
