    Clean your Kettle ??

Once every 4 years or if it gets embarrassingly dirty, whichever comes first ;)

    Just ordered summit kamado

I think the loose top damper is a common problem. It's annoying to have to check and reset it every time you lift the lid. Is it supposed to have enough resistance to not spin loosely? Maybe as the gunk builds up it'll stay in position. Looks like your gasket is not fixed on, you can see the...

Summit Kamado E6/S6 owners: what do you wish you'd been told when you got yours?

My thoughts are: Lumpwood by its nature is going to burn a little inconsistently compared to briquettes. Interesting reading the E6 guide for low and slow. It says 35-45 briquettes for 8-10 hours of cooking. If I have read it correctly all the coals are lit. This is surprising but if you have...

How good (or bad) is the Summit Kamado E6

It has always been overpriced for a pressed steel product. It can maintain a high price because it has unique cooking flexibility, looks good and easier to manage than a ceramic kamado. Porcelain enamel is a wonderful finish and surprisingly inexpensive. I'd take a baked in transfer over a...

Summit Kamado E6/S6: charcoal loading for long burn?

Sounds like a clockwise direction to me

    E6 with cart or not?

If you look at the U.S. Owner manuals the latest models have 3 castors, manual dated 30th Dec 2020 The previous manual dated 5th Nov 2020 had the two fixed wheels. Must have listened to customers feedback about poor manoeuvrability with the fixed wheels. My UK manual is dated 7th Jan 2021 so...

    E6 with cart or not?

21st June 2021 It's a European model (no idea what the differences are) Part #. 18201004

How good (or bad) is the Summit Kamado E6

So that's three logos out of alignment on this thread alone. That's statistically a systematic QA problem. 😉

    E6 with cart or not?

I'd have to take them both for a test drive :giggle:

    E6 with cart or not?

My E6 has two fixed wheels and one castor at the front. Because of the wide track it is not as manoeuvrable as I would like. I might change the fixed wheels to castors at some point.

How good (or bad) is the Summit Kamado E6

I can live with the wonky logo if I don't look too close but it's those small quality issues that can undermine the Summit experience. Those little things are easy to fix if someone could be bothered to address it. If you pay £1,000+ for a steel grill it should be best quality and very easy for...

    E6 with cart or not?

Put my E6 together in the past week and there's no wobble. Surprisingly stable after being used to kettles :giggle: Just make sure the wheels are pushed in flush. One reason for me going for a three wheeler rather than a four wheeler grill is that my BBQ shelter has riven sandstone paving...

How good (or bad) is the Summit Kamado E6

I found the Black Friday offer online. The website included an address of a Garden Centre 30 minutes drive from me. I went to take a look, even though I knew I would still buy one. The display model had no wheels. The assistant told me he had removed them because a customer had problems with the...

How good (or bad) is the Summit Kamado E6

Very interesting. There are clearly some quality issues. Not just minor ones. What a shame. I thought the E6/S6 was 'Made in the U.S.A.' (using globally sourced parts). Does anyone know how much is really made in the U.S. or do they just bring the parts over from China and box it? One of the...

Summit Kamado E6/S6: charcoal loading for long burn?

Thanks Darryl. We must have watched the same video :D The official owners guide is not a lot of use. I think it is misleading. As you say, the key is to start with a small fire. I must try a cheap hunk of meat to experiment. Pork shoulder or a chuck roast.

Summit Kamado E6/S6: charcoal loading for long burn?

Haven't tried low and low on my new E6 yet. Does the burn on the lower grate go in a particular direction? I saw a video where they started at the 10 o'clock edge position. I assumed it would burn evenly unless you are using an ATC with a fan. Does minion method work with a few lit coals...

How good (or bad) is the Summit Kamado E6

Already earning from the first cook on Sunday (indirect set up for half chicken) that it needs less fuel than kettle! Took a few briquettes out to help bring it back down. On kettles I've always had the top vent either fully Open or Closed and controlled the temp with the bottom vent. Had the...

    BBQGuru CyberQ WiFi - Retired

I bought a CyberQ WiFi a few years ago to control my WSM. WSM has been sold as I stopped using it (I know that's terrible) Got the CyberQ out today to see if it still works. It does, but the Pit Pal app is not in the Apple App Store anymore. Are their any other compatible apps, or do I have to...

How good (or bad) is the Summit Kamado E6

Well I've bought one today. Now waiting for help to get it out of the car! Price dropped £100 to £895 ($1193) in a Black Friday offer. Cheapest I've ever seen it in the U.K. Surprised how heavy it is, but still half the weight of a ceramic.
