    Thinking About Espresso

The expensive price is hard to swallow for sure but I paid approximately 1/2 price for a returned unit, still damn expensive though. After owning superautomatics for quite a few years, if I were to divide the cost of the unit by the amount of coffee drinks served it is easier to justify. Or...

My restored 20 year old Dacor Gas Range

My wife and I host Thanksgiving each year. My wife like to cook enough food to feed the neighborhood and occupies both ovens which leaves me to cook the turkey on my ceramic grill. Definitely no complaints from me as the turkey turns out great cooked over lump coal.

My restored 20 year old Dacor Gas Range

My old "cheap" 30" gas range finally bit the bullet. I was looking for an inexpensive (under $500) replacement since it is for my basement kitchen. I was not impressed at the quality of the new ranges or lack of features on the less expensive models. So I decided to look at used 30" gas...

    Thinking About Espresso

I started with a Jura ENA 9 (obsolete model) until I wore it out. I now own a Miele CM6360 that I purchased at a discount due to a customer return. One problem with the superautomatics is that they tend to clog up with oily beans. My go to bean is Lavazza super crema.

    Thinking About Espresso

Years ago I started out with a budget espresso machine (Estro sold by starbucks) on sale for under $150. It provided decent cup of espresso but I found that I would only use it several times/year do to the amount of effort to pull a couple of shots with cleanup. I ended up going with a...

    What's on tap/brew schedule?

If you are dispensing with CO2 I advise that you check for CO2 leaks to avoid loosing a tank of CO2.

    Tell me about espresso

My vacuum coffee maker is one of my favorites but the Miele has me spoiled with the one button approach. The Jura was my super automatic before the Miele but it needs to be sent in for refurbishing. The Mocca Master Technivorm is great for drip coffee, not many machines can produce hot enough...

    Tell me about espresso

Below is my current daily Miele coffee machine. With decent beans (I prefer Lavazza) I don't add any sugar/syrups.

    What's on tap/brew schedule?

It's hard to tell but those are Perlicks with the flow control. I also upgraded my beer lines to double wall EVA Barrier tubing.

    What's on tap/brew schedule?

From my experience infected beer gets worse over time.

    What's on tap/brew schedule?

My new/used beer tap tower. It came equipped with glycol cooling option which I run cold water through it to drop the beer temps down to the same temperatures as the beer from my beer fridge.

    What's on tap/brew schedule?

    What's on tap/brew schedule?

I currently have the following on tap: Pliny The Elder clone (IPA) , Great Lakes Christmas Ale clone (Winter Seasonal), Blueberry Cider, Czech Dark Lager. I am an all-grain brewer using a cooler mashtun with an electric rims and boil kettle fueled by natural gas.

    Performer Propane Conversion

I had a recent request to provide photos of my conversion since the original photos no longer show up. I do not have a parts list but I suggest taking the regulator to the hardware store to obtain the proper fittings which amount to a handfull of parts. I also recommend checking for leaks...

I'm charcoal "challenged", so I converted my Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5 to propane

Very nicely done conversion. Good choice on the burner style since they are very quite, the turkey fryer style burners sound like a jet engine. I use those style of burners for my beer making setup, however I converted my burner to run off of natural gas (don't have to worry about a tank...

Which is more valuable, old SS Performers or the newer ones?

Its $20 to fill a 20# tank and $10 to fill a 5# tank in my area. The 1# tank will last me more then one season since I only use it to ignite the coals.

Which is more valuable, old SS Performers or the newer ones?

$3 is a bargain. I didn't like the price to fill the 5# tanks or risk emptying it because the valve was not fully closed, so I converted my SS Performer to accept the disposable style tanks that I fill with my 20# tank. Here is the link...

Which is more valuable, old SS Performers or the newer ones?

You would be surprised on how addictive the gas assist can be.

Bleach is also bad for stainless steel, I use Bar Keepers Friend for stainless.
