    Converting SmokeFire to Charcoal

That would certainly be an option. Not being familar with offset fireboxes, would they not be ideal for searing?

    Converting SmokeFire to Charcoal

I was looking not to add complexity (air dampers, augers, etc). It is amazing on how long the weber kettle grills last, no expensive/obsolete electronics to worry about.

    Converting SmokeFire to Charcoal

Thanks for your feedback, not obvious to a non-pellet grill owner.

    Converting SmokeFire to Charcoal

At this point I am in the "idea" phase of this project. If I land a deal on a broken SF EX6 I will post my progress. One "issue" that I have is to be able to channel the ash into the ash removal drawer or find other means (shop vac) to remove ash from the bottom of the grill.

    Converting SmokeFire to Charcoal

I much prefer a porcelain coated grill. Also this would be a "hobby" type of project as it would be simpler/quicker to purchase a rectangular charcoal grill and I like the design of the smokefire.

    Converting SmokeFire to Charcoal

As to why it is a way to have a charcoal grill with a rectangular cooking surface. With the original design, wouldn't grease fires also be a concern? As mentioned using charcoal baskets could create a direct/indirect zone. The design of the SmokeFire with a deep "firebox" would be a candidate...

    Converting SmokeFire to Charcoal

I am an avid charcoal grill user as I own the WSM, Performer, Weber kettle, and Vision grills. I notice that from time to time there are good deals on used/broken smokefire grills and was thinking if anyone has converted the smokefire (preferable EX6) to run on charcoal? I was thinking that a...

    Yet Another New Stove

My understanding is Bosch is one of those companies that make it difficult for homeowners to purchase replacement parts.

    Yet Another New Stove

Congrats on your new range! I am impressed that you were able to find a no-frills range with manual clean. My only gripe with the newer ranges is that the burners are not all equal BTU output. I prefer to decide what burner that I want my large pot to sit on as opposed to place it on the...

    Chest Freezers-5 cf

Depending on how much $ in food you keep in your chest freezer, I would recommend a chest freezer alarm to alert you if the temperature goes above a setpoint to avoid spoiled meat and loss of $. I don't use an alarm since I keep kegs of beer in mine.

    Chest Freezers-5 cf

My experience is that most if not all newer appliances will not last near as long as the old ones. My last chest freezer (which I use as a kegerator with a seperate temperature controller) lasted 5 years. You may consider using silaicone caulk for the gap on your old chest freezer gasket and...

    Considering a superautomatic

I ditched those expensive small filters in certain coffee machines and refridgerators years ago with a seperate sediment filter and carbon block/chlorine filter for my kitchen sink and a RO filter setup for my refridgerators from Bulk Reef Supply. The RO filter setup doubles as my brewing water...

    Considering a superautomatic

I have been using a super automatic for years, mainly because I am lazy and my household drinks alot of coffee. I started out with a Jura, wore that out and now have a Miele. Coffee drink wise they are similar, I prefer the Miele because it has a removeable brew unit that I can lube and clean...

Coffee Beans what's in your grinder ???

I was in Puerto Rico for work over 35 years ago. I really liked their coffee and I learned to use condensed milk for the cream and raw sugar just liked they did down there. I was also there when Pizza Hut test marketed their Hawaiian Pizza which I also like to this day, please no BBQ sauce.

Coffee Beans what's in your grinder ???

My favorite coffee that Costco sells is the Kona blend that is usually only available around Christmas time. It usually doesn't last very long.
