Temps from sunshine!?!?!?

Where I do my q'n on my 18.5 WSM it is in the sun until 2ish, when the shade hits the temps drop 25-40 deg.

Is the normal?
 
Well I own a black car... on a sunny day it gets considerably hotter then the outdoor temp. 25-40 F seems completely reasonable to me.

On long cooks in the summer it's definately something to be mindful of.
 
No doubt, just have trouble when I do a morning to evening cook because I am concerned about the temp falling below 200 when I can't be there to adjust.

Wondering what others do or not do for this.
 
I couldn't agree more Gary, south MS ain't much better!

I have the easy up 10' x 10' but hate put'n it up and down, just curious what others are doing!?
 
Never had a problem with overheating but sometimes the rain cools of my grill here's what I do.

I was smoke'n some ribs on the 26 OTG as soon as the umbrella went up the rain stopped.
