I wouldn't buy one. It's a gimmicky item if you ask me. Think of the massive holes it'll leave in your steak. Also the longevity of it - electronics aren't big fans of high heat environments.

Think I have to agree with Steve on this one. If anything, wait till others have tried it (and then for a year IMO) before dropping coin on it.

Just a little fyi...

As the bulk / mass of the metal surrounding a thermocouple increases, so will the time delay in recording the measured temperature... !

It does look gimmicky, but if it works well it's pretty cool and useful.

I like the idea of waiting to get real user feedback on both functionality and reliability.
