once you all shut down your pits, How long before you will put the cover back on. Dont like to keep the beaut uncovered for to long. Guess it is a anal personality trait. thanks
 
Corey,wait until it's cool to the touch. The thermometer (if you have one) may not pick up all the heat from the cooling coals,so I wait until it's cool at about grid level. HTH
 
With all vents closed only a couple hours, at most
