I just purchased a WSM and would like to get a good stem thermometer that I could stick down in the exhaust vent. I have read many good reviews about tru tel, but I don't know if they are accurate, much less able to be calibrated. I would prefer one I could calibrate for peace of mind. What do you guys recommend? Many thanks in advance!

My Tel-Tru cannot be calibrated, but it is accurate.
A fairly cheap vent therm is a 6" stem turkey fryer thermometer. Easily removed to clean or calibrate, and you should be able pick one up at HD, Lowe's, or Ace, for less than a sawbuck.
That's what I used for over a year.

Edit.. I'm guessing you have a pre 09 which doesn't have the built in lid thermo?
