Button Functionality Issues (button doesn't work for me)

I just finish putting my heatermeter together and the button doesn't work. What's going to be the best method to debug the issue? I know nothing about hardware but I'm relatively competent when debugging software issues. Everything else seems to be working and I've got it on the network, accessed the gui, see the probe values, lcd shows, etc.

I did not install the optional part MCP1700-33, could this cause an issue with the button functionality?

This is a Heatermeter 4.0 raspberry pi connected system.

Did you manage to install it upside down?

Notice how the middle pins are closer to 1 side than the other.

The switch does look to be backwards, now to figure out how to take it apart. That's going to be a challenge I'm not looking forward to.

It was the switch that was backwards, solved and fully functional (although still waiting on RCA plug for blower).
