Welcome Harry.

It seems that even the most seasoned BBQ competitor can only win big a fraction of the time. I understand that much of the payback is in bragging rights. If you have a restaurant or catering service, that trophy is the best form of advertising. Each contest must cost a minimum of a $1000 to enter, considering all the time, supplies, etc.

I was wondering if anyone competing on the Q circuit ever makes any money doing so.

An aside: although smack talk seems to be part of the BBQ comp culture, you always kept a cool head on the Pitmasters program and never engaged in that stuff. Thanks for bringing a sense of dignity and compassion to the program. Wishing you continued success,

I've heard that the pros like Myron and Rod Gray, of Pellet Envy, do make enough money. I, for one, don't so I do it for fun.
No smack talk needed from me. Thanks for your well wishes.
Best,
Harry
