After a few months of trolling around the forums I decided to try out a 18" WSM. Before that I had been using and modifying a late 80's offset smoker. I found a VWBB member in Kansas City selling a 18" WSM with cover for $150, and I picked it up. The next day I was supposed to smoke 3 slabs of ribs for my co-workers, so I gave it a shot. Using the http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/rib5.html recipe I was able to get some delicious and perfectly tender ribs.

Being a Kansas City boy means this weekend was full of American Royal stuff, so I continued searching for WSM's on craigslist. Saturday I woke up and quickly searched on Craigslist and found a post with no photo describing a "barn find" Weber Smoker, so I gave the guy a call and headed out there. 30 minutes later and $25 poorer I came home with a classic WSM with no use.

I almost forgot to mention that last weekend I had also started building a Mini WSM. After finishing that guy I was the proud owner of 3 WSM's and felt on top of the world. So at this point I thought it might be a good idea to go ahead and join the forums and share my fortunes with people who actually understand what I'm talking about!

Since I am a new member I can't post attachments, but you can check out my flickr page for pics of my smokers and some q-views!

A big Welcome mate!
