line gasser with foil?

Does anybody line the bottom of their gasser with foil? Seems to aid clean up and probably save fuel since it seems to reflect a lot of heat.

Hey Bob,

I recall reading that Weber does not recommend this. They reason that grease fires could occur. The drippings could be caught between the foil and metal of the cook box and start a fire, instead of dripping down into the catch pan.

Not sure if this is likely but I have a silver genesis where the drip pan just pulls out. Its easy and fast for me to clean nasty burned stuff with an old putty knife - being careful not to scratch anything.

I can attest to the fire and foil situation. Last night I was grilling some chicken and potatoes wrapped in bacon on my Genesis Silver B at a low to medium heat. The bacon fat drip down and the next thing I know I am almost lightning my deck on fire.
I will take Morgan's advice and simply do a quick cleaning before every cook as this is not the first time this has happened to me.
