Standard Stoker Pit Probe in "Higher" Heat Cook

So I've read about people melting their "standard" temp. probes when leaving the lid off to long or during high heat cooks. So here's my question, I'd like to do a "higher" heat cook, say 350 top grate. Will I be OK? My concern is as the heat comes up around outside of my WSM will it be hotter than the grate temp (350) and melt my probe? Also, I am aware Rock rates these units to 450. Thanks in advance.

Where I have the eyelets, I just make a foil bridge to protect the cables. I protect each cable and another on the bottom coming off the Brinkmann pan. Might be overkill, but hey, who wants to burn up their probe cables.

I have done 350 degree cooks without issue. of course, if flame surrounds the probe for any length of time, all bets may be off....
