Hello all,
just found this fourm, and think it's great.
I have a cast iron grate that is rusted over, due to lack of use. question, what is the best way to restore it?

Welcome to the forum Arnie!
I've found soaking it in vinegar then scrubbin' it with a potato (yes, a potato) seems to work well. slice the tip of the potato off. After scrubbin' for awhile, the potato will get slick, simply slice off the used area.
Soaking in vinegar causing a chemical reaction that causes the rust to decompose.
Or... try this stuff.
