"Natural Smoke Flavor"

I've been planning to smoke some pork with a rub that I picked up while in Hawaii on vacation. Then I noticed that the ingredients list "natural smoke flavor". I'm worried that this might result in too much smoke flavor especially since I was thinking about an overnight smoke. Anyone have any opinions or advice?

Thanks,

Use less smokewood. If, after the cook, you'd like a little more smoke you can always sprinkle on a little rub -- or simply leave alone and know that next cook you can use more wood. No way to remove too much smokiness after the fact though.

I would taste the rub to see how smokey it really is before using it. You can then judge wether you need to cut back on the smoke wood, and by how much. I've tasted some rubs heavy on the smoke flavor, while others just had a hint of smoke taste to them. HTH
