Fixing a dent

I made the mistake yesterday of trying to carry a little too much yesterday along with the middle section of my WSM yesterday, which resulted in me dropping everything. The bottom of the section is now slightly oval.

It still fits into the bottom and we had a successful cook yesterday, but there is definitely room for air to get inside the smoker where the dent is.

Can I just hammer out the dent or are there special considerations due to the porcelain coat?

Thanks for any help.

Dents are badges of honor to be worn with great pride - or to remind us not to try to carry too much!

I've got a dent in the lid of my original OTS (now my Cajun Bandit) and I have no memory or recollection of how it got there, but in 5 years its never hampered the hundreds of cooks on that great old grill!
