i'm working on making the gga able to convert to electric. i think that the element for the farberware grill/rotise is the correct size. i have a similar one from wards but the connection is on the side as opposed to the end. shouldn't be hard to do. no reason, just because.
 
I like the idea. Converting to electric should even out the heating and with the flavorizer shield the food should cook virtually the same. I assume that the element has a temp controller on it, so you may get a better range of heat.
 
the coils that i can use don't have a controller. but they seem to work as intended, basic cooking/grilling, so i don't think it would be a problem. not sure that i would use the shield, will see.
