Wind in summer

Hi all,

I know first hand how much wind in the winter will effect the WSM without an adequate windbreak. Since this will be my first summer with the WSM, does wind have the same effect? I'm guessing it might actually make the temp run higher if not blocked?

It does with mine Rob.
Also going from shade to direct sun will cause your temps to jump.

Thanks Tim. The good thing is I'll be moving out of an apartment to a house before it really heats up so I will have a place to store a wind break.

Year round wind is the enemy. It can blow ash on your food, cause your temp to spike or more often suck the heat from your cooker regardless of season to outside temp.

remember that even if it's 95 F outside, that's still 150 F cooler then your cooking chamber. The more wind that runs by your cooker the more heat will be pulled away.

By no means to you need something large, but if you have to cook on really windy days then its a godsend.
