Tri tip smoked, seared, and sliced

Looks good. What kind of wood? I've been grilling tri-tips for awhile on my gas grill and have only smoked one once. I wasn't all that happy with my results. How was yours?

Thanks David,
I actually just used K and a very little bit of hickory that was left in the cooker from the last cook. I wanted to go light on this one. It turned out really good and the smoke complimented but didn't overpower the marinade.

Excellent looking! Maybe I am going to the wrong stores here in Georgia, but when I ask for Tri tip, they look at me like I am crazy. Never had that problem when I lived on the west coast.

Nobody here in Texas knows what tri tip is either. I get it at Costco. I'm assuming the only reason it's there is because Costco is based on the West Coast. They always carry it though so if you have one near you check it out.

I've never seen tri-tip here in Illinois, but I've never hunted for it either.

After seeing those pics, I'd like to try it though.

Well done!
