Raising the bottom cooking grate

Anyone else think the stock position of the lower grate can be too close to the water pan (especially if using water)?
My solution was to buy another 18.5" Weber grate like the one used on top and insert it inside the middle section, then letting it rest on the ends of the lower 4 screws.
I gained just around 2" in clearance I'd guess and I get less steaming on the bottom sides of meat cooked in the center of the lower grate.
I didn't see this idea on this site, just wondering if anyone has had a similar idea.
