OK to cut ribs in half when smoking

Hi all,

I'm wanting to try different rubs to find the one that works best for my family. Is it OK to cut the ribs in half, or even thirds for the smoking? I would hate to ruin a whole rack with a rub nobody likes. Would it change any of the variables that go into the whole process?

Thanks,
Rob

hey Rob, it's ok.
i just avoid it cuz i think it looks south milwaukee.
butt that's just me.

No, Don't cut them in half! They will still be just as long, and those dang bones will be REALLY short!

Actually, when Chris Baker did his rub ingredients experiment , he used pork shoulder country style boneless ribs and cut them into portions (about 3 or 4 per rib).

Steve - the country-style ribs (shoulder slices) for rub testing sounds like a great idea.

There is even a good recipe at the Patio Daddio blog site for "cheater" pulled pork using the country-style "ribs" that looks pretty tasty - something to do with all the rest of the "ribs" in the pack!
