Michael Durso is a mechanical engineer with 20 years experience at many diverse companies. Growing up, he was always tinkering and creating things. Over the years, he has designed paper handling equipment, postal machines for the US and Europe, money counters, counterfeit detection machines, and slot machines.

Michael teaches college-level courses in drafting/engineering programs. A former student, who was employed at Weber-Stephen Products, suggested he submit a resume, and in his brief two-and-a-half-year stint at Weber, Michael led the engineering efforts on three major projects: The 18-1/2" Smoker redesign, the new 22-1/2" Smoker, and the updated 26-3/4" Kettle. Having always been a barbeque aficionado, this was a nice fit between interest and talent.

A long time Chicago resident, Michael still lives in the area with his wife and children. He can often be found riding his vintage scooters, modifying amplifiers and guitars, and playing in hard rock bands. He still smokes and grills regularly, with a focus on recipes and sauces. Though no longer with Weber, Michael is back in the tech field where he is solving many challenges—namely, the engineering of those tiny microphones and speakers in your cell phones.

Regards,
Chris
