There is probably a reason why they don't build things like this any more, but I find myself captivated by these old time built-like-a-tank mechanical marvels. For example, I recently admired an old sewing machine I saw at a second hand store. It was electric but old, very heavy and a sign on it said 'can be used for leather work', though it didn't look like dedicated leather work machines I have seen previously.
