Gas Mod (afterburner) to WSM

I purchase the After Burner from an advertisement on the Smoke Ring web site a few years back and used it on my old Smoker. I recently got the WSM Bullet and love it, but I hate trying to get the fire/smoke right every time. I found for me Gas works best, and I like spending my time getting the recipe right not worrying about the smoker. Also my wife isn’t a big BBQ fan so I can tailor the amount of smoke flavor. Gas allows me to get the smoke at low temps, and get a lot of wood flavor without getting the charcoal taste. Works great!! I love it!! Sorry I’m not the Smoker purist.
Check it out!!

Nothing wrong with that at all.

Dan do what works for you, who cares what other think. Don't tell anyone but I put mayo on my Pulled Pork sammies. Why? cause I like it, and that's all that matters.

Dan,

I have a couple of the bullets and am thinking about converting one into gas for the same reasons you posted. You put links on for the pictures but I couldn't get them to work. could you post them again and let me know if it is still working out for you? I am thinking of getting the mini V afterburner. Also I am thinking of getting the propane temperature controller (http://www.turkey-fryers.com/scb001_temperature_control_valve.htm) and putting that inline to help keep the temp where I want it. Is it needed?

Thanks for any help!!

Norman

Bryan - Whitts BBQ in Decatur Alabama, which makes my favorite BBQ Sandwich in the entire universe putts a vinegar slaw and mayo on their pulled pork sandwiches - they are to die for! I'm with you!

Pat (sorry to hijack the threat - just couldn't resist this one!)

To keep it on topic - I have the afterburner page bookmarked and was thinking about getting one for one of my Brinkmann's so it would be useful, but I came up with my own design using the gas burner from an el cheapo table top gas grill. It looks like a well made, quality product and if I remember correctly, the afterburner is make by some good ole boys from here in Alabama.
