Cleaning Ceramic Rods on Knife Sharpener

I have a Steamboat brand knife sharpener that has two ceramic rods. It is very similar to the Lansky Crock Stick Sharpener.

Can anyone tell me how to clean the rods other than soap and water? Lansky sells an Eraser Block for that purpose, but the S&H is a good bit more than the price of the item.

Could a sanding block from Home Depot perhaps be similar to their eraser block?

You can often find eraser blocks at home supply stores but sanding blocks can work too.

Try HD and Lowe's as well. I got an eraser from one or the other a while back, iirc.

You may also clean them with Comet, Bon Ami or a similar abrasive cleaner used with a nylon or non-metallic scouring pad. Works great on my Spyderco ceramic rods.

I agree with Jeff E. as I also have the Spyderco set and have cleaned/washed them many times.
