R Robert Oleksak TVWBB Pro Sep 20, 2008 #1 I used an old camp stove burner and some scraps of metal and wood to make a free chimney starter. I was bored and it was free it works and is fairly sturdy. Way to much time on my hands.

Side burner on grill works wonderfully. Heck, a normal gas grill works fine too (just don't burn your chimney handle). I've started using those firestarter packs/cubes and hardly use my chimney anymore. Works great when smoking (i still use the chimney when grilling).
