Hi all, first post here and hoping to pick up some tips.

My new Weber's lid is slightly sprung. If I put pressure on it downwards, it closes more securely but springs back up again allowing smoke and heat to escape slightly around the edges. It's not a major gap, in fact it's pretTy slight but it's there.

This is my second Weber and the other one was the same. Can you tell me is this common and am I expecting the impossible to have to seal properly, given it's size.

cheers,

Can you tell if the problem is an out-of-round lid or out-of-round base?

I've had that twice myself. With both grills it was the lid. With one, cooking and temp control were unaffected so I didn't bother with it. With the other they were. A call to Webe4r and they sent a new lid gratis.

Welcome to the board.

Thanks Kevin. I'm almost certain it's a lid issue. As I said, not major but it's there. I'll give them a call.

cheers,

Ian

Thanks Steve. Interesting stuff.

I gave my Smokenator a test run yesterday and had the settings as per the instructions. It kept the Weber at 230 degrees for 6 hours so I it seems the light spring in the lid isn't really an issue i should worry about.
