I picked this New Braunfels Bandera up in 2010 from a fellow BBQ'r for $75 and did a frame off restoration on it and thought I'd share some pics.

rust never sleeps!

it's better to repaint, than it is to rust...

my, my hey, hey !

The old, New Braunfels is here to stay ...

(nice work - looks good)

Brian, as nice a job as you did; as much as you love this cooker; as little about it i know...

it's an ugly machine.

Awesome job on the resto! Love those cookers, wish I could find one in decent shape. Nice color on the Q as well!

Nice Score! Your meat didn't taste like paint though, I hope. Looks like a versatile machine (adjustable grill grate?, nice heat shield, good capacity)

Looks great Brian. Nice score for the $$ and your resto job looks like it will last for years.

Good work all the way around!
I learned a long time ago, when I had a Char-Griller, to season the firebox each time I cooked by rubbing with a little vegetable oil. Over time it builds up a nice little patina and keeps the rust down.
