WSM Performer cart

I took a Performer frame and made this cart for the WSM's. It's still a work in progress, I've added a piece of stainless to the left side and working on a drop in sheet of SS for the top to use with one WSM. The wood shelf is 1x6 Ipe decking and the legs rest in 1 1/2' ABS pipe plugs. The access doors pull out and up if I need to poke around, but I'm using pizza stones in the waterpan and don't do much cooking on the lower grate. I'll post pics of the finished product when I'm done putzing around.

Let me know what you think? I'm still tweaking it!

Any chance you have any plans for this yet? It looks awesome. I have 4 WSM's that I have to haul around for competitions and this would work perfect. Please let me know if you have any plans for this. My email is johnnyo21@everestkc.net. Thanks!

Brian,

Looks great. Have you considered a shelf underneath that would catch any drippings from the WSM's (I noticed that your shelf is an open grate type).

I personally try to castch any drippings to keep from staining my wood deck but if you are on hte road and out in hte open, that might not be a concern.

Thanks Ray!
I have a galvanized drip pan that I use underneath the cart when parked on my cedar deck. It needs a fold down table on the Left side and I'm considering a wider table ledge in front too. Ipe or stainless steel.

Brian: That looks awesome and is exactley what I need. Any chance you have any plans for this or did you build it as you go? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Well I had been admiring Don Marco's WSM cart and the 18.5" Platinums seem to be almost impossible to find used. I rebuilt a Red Performer and thought it would make a great cart for the WSM. I just happened upon a basket case Performer for $10 off craigslist and after evaluating the cost to get it back in decent condition, I decided to scrap it and do the cart. I removed the top frame cross pieces and turned the charcoal bin lid around to make the fold down table. I origianlly only planned to mount one WSM in it and have a sheet of stainless that I plan to cut to the contour of the WSM on the left and have a larger work space and be removable to accomadate two cookers.

I took it to a comp and it is kind of a waste of space, so it stays on the deck with the other toys.
