Gyro Burgers (Beef & Lamb)

GYRO BURGERS

Makes 5 servings.

1 pound ground chuck
1 pound ground lamb
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
2 teaspoons dried oregano

Pita bread, hamburger bun, flour tortilla, or other wrap

1. Combine all ingredients lightly, mixing well.
2. Shape into patties.
3. Place on grill and cook 4 minutes per side.
4. Serve on a hamburger bun or Pita bread with chopped lettuce, sliced onions, tomato and yogurt sauce.

YOGURT SAUCE.
1 cup yogurt (whole milk yogurt, or drained lowfat yogurt)
5 tablespoons sour cream
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
1/4 cup chopped cucumber
1/4 cup chopped onion

Mix all ingredients together; refrigerate. Spoon onto Gyro Burgers before serving.

Rita, These sound yummy as heck. Have you made them? No matter though. I'm putting this one on the must do list. Thanks for posting.

Sorry Bryan, I didn't see your post. It's been a good while since I made them but even the non-lamb-eating family member even liked them. Now I've gotten hungry for them and will have to put them on the shopping list. Hope you like them too.
