I really like this rub! I've used it a couple of times now on butts with a plain mustard slather and bumping up the brown sugar and basil a bit. Good stuff indeed! Jacks Old South Competition Vinegar is the perfect sauce to go with it. Thanks Steve(and Jack)!

is there anything you can substitute for the basil

For pork, thyme. I'd up it to 2 tsp.

For beef, try 1.5 tsp thyme plus .5 tsp marjoram.
