Has anyone stacked another mid secyion on an 18" WSM?

Bought a used 18" WSM and the guy had an extra mid section. I put it on top of the existing mid section but it didn't have a good fit. He also gave a hinge and gasket kit from CB.

My question is will the gaskets give a good enough seal for an effective long cook?

TIA

It should work. It doesn't have to be a perfect seal to cook great food.
Give it a try & tell us all about it!

There's a few members here that have stacked WSM Peter Z has two 22's that way & there's someone else who has like 4 18's stacked together... You need to do a search on here for them.

Thanks for the feedback!

Going to use the gaskets to see how good of a seal I can get

I will look around for some more examples of stacked sections.

I had originally put the new section on top of the old one and that is where I saw the big space issues. Realizing I would have to clean the lip to adhere the gasket, I figured I would use the new section on the bottom as the lip was new and clean. Lo and behold, the old unit fit almost like a glove. I am still going to do the gaskets but now I am sure that I will be getting an air tight seal.
