How long is the probe? I would think that the temp on the side would be higher than the center of the grate.
I do like the mod, I think thermometers look sharp on a smoker I have been thinking of putting on on the lid of my OTG 22

Does look sharp! I added a weber therm to the top of my 22"kettle lid. Glad I did.

Probe length. This is the same thermometer that comes on the 22.5 WSM dome w/o the bezel.
