Which analog thermometer for 18.5" WSM

I have an ancient pre-thermometer 18" WSM and would like to add one to it. Which route would you go? OEM dome thermometer or something at grate level? Grate level would be more accurate, but will get in the way.

Thanks,
Mike

Michael;
Here is an alternative that I used on my Mini-Joe. It works very well. It should do the same for the larger smokers, too:

It has the benefit of a longer stem (I ran mine just under the top grate) and it just slips in and out as you need. When it's out, it does not interfere with the grates at all. When the grates are in place, just slip the therm in it's adapter.

Keep on smokin',

The Weber 63028 is "smoker graduated".
The Tel Tru BQ100 is "grill graduated".

I have the 63028 on my 18.5 WSM and a BQ100 on my 22.5 OTG.
Also have a Maverick ET-732 and a Thermapen.

Pick of the litter is the Thermapen.
It is also the most expensive :eek:

Thanks for all the suggestions. I love when a 20 minute project actually only takes 20 minutes. Finally my oldie WSM 18 and Uber-Performer are complete.
