I put in some more time on my WSM cart today. Pretty much finished the framework , firmed up the platform and gave a lot of thought to the design of the drop down table (yet to come).

I decided that I've been otver thinking the drop down table. I was going to use plywood and cover it with Formica or some such , but upon reflection I figure I'll just make a slat table like you'd have on the side of your old gas grill....(keep it simple , stupid!).
I am borrowing peter lindfors idea for the mechanism of the table...( thanks pete):p...... So I will get a little more lumber , build the table and figure out the mounting of the hardware. Then it'll be ready for paint!

For now she's slumbering in the garage......more later.

Spent some time priming the wood while I was cooking my tri tips last night....tedious , but necessary .

Spent the better part of the day today building and attaching the drop down table on my smoker cart. I thought I was going to get a lot more done , but I made a couple of bone head mistakes which cost me some time.....buuuuut I resolved those issues and its getting close. Have to attach the table support , but I think I'm gonna have to ask for some help from my buddy at work who is a machinist , welder and all around fabricating genius.
And of course there's still painting to do.i decided I'm going to stain the table and urethane it , but the rest will be black. I kind of ran out of steam in that dept. , but I'll get it done eventually .

It sure will look nice, and I like the design.
Are you leaving the sides open, or adding panels for a wind-break?

Tim ,
For now I'm leaving the sides open , but later on I might add removable panels. I want the smoker to be as accessible as possible until I figure out just what I need to get at....
